Queervisual
Queervisual, a digital projection onto Georges Street looks at queer culture from around the world. Images from queer and queer sensible artists, designers, photographers and film-makers give a shifting glimpse into alternative worlds. The display presents a bombardment of queer imagery in a setting where images of the queer experience are rarely seen out loud and proud in a public space. Aimed at our own community in a celebration of the links and diversities of queer communities everywhere, Queervisual will also challenge passers-by to see what we see and to be aware that our culture is real, global and has been around for a long long time.
Imagery showing in Queervisual includes photography, collage, multimedia and digital imagery, film clips, graphic design, drawings, illustrations, paintings and archived imagery from Ireland, the States, Europe, the Middle East, China and India, many from established artists and professionals along with work from individual and group projects.
Queervisual is a work in progress, the display will be added to after aLAF and shown again at Dublin Pride, Brighton Pride, Talinn Pride (Estonia), San Fransisco’s Queer Cultural Festival and a variety of other festivals and events around the world, with new work being constantly added to the main showing.
This project is being supported by The George, The Irish Queer Archive, GCN, Belong2 Youth, aLAF and Dublin Pride.
